Overview
North Palmetto Point breaks well offshore, with powerful peaks lining up over several reefs and Diamond Cay a long way from the beach. The sharp coral platforms throw clean left and right barrels when the wind leaves them alone.
When It Works
The reefs pull in swell from south to north, but a southeast swell is the best match. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and the setup can be somewhat inconsistent, so it rewards a bit of patience for the days it lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest offshore wind to hold the barrels open. Mid tide is the pick, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-only wave breaking over sharp, uneven reef. The lineup tends to stay quiet.
Access
The peaks sit too far out to paddle, so a boat is the safer way into these waters.
