Orrua is a short beachbreak that breaks over sand next to the harbour wall, offering both lefts and rights. It is a semi-closeout and fairly poor in quality, so keep expectations in check, but it can still deliver a fun session when the setup lines up.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northwest through north, with north (N) swell the best match. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it stays a moderately consistent option to keep an eye on.
Wind and Tide
Look for south (S) offshore wind to clean up the faces. It works on low and mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call. More swell pushes through at low tide, so that is often when there is the most to work with.
Local Tips
Orrua suits intermediate surfers. The lineup is rarely crowded, so you can usually find space to yourself when it is breaking.
Access
There is free roadside parking right by the break. Beach facilities are limited and open in summer only. Be aware of some river, stormwater and residential pollution in the water.
