Police Bay is one of the most exposed beaches on the island, sitting next to Anse Petite Police and running the longer of the two. It's a beach break with both lefts and rights peeling over a patchy mix of uneven reef and sand. Be realistic about it, though: it's usually a rocky shore dump with strong currents, so it's rarely worth a dedicated trip.
When It Works
Police Bay draws swell from southeast through south, with southeast the best direction. It comes alive on the regular 1-2ft southeast windswells that hit this coast and picks up surf consistently, even if the quality is often modest. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind to tidy up the faces. The beach can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, in part because of those strong shorebreak currents. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
