Punta Blanca - K16 surf guide

Punta Blanca - K16 is a surf spot that attracts experienced surfers looking for a challenge. This location features a reef break that can deliver some solid waves, particularly when the swell is coming from the northwest. The atmosphere can feel intense, especially with a local crew that knows the spot well and isn’t shy about claiming their territory.

You can expect some aggressive take-offs here, as the waves can jack up quickly. It's a mixed bag, with both lefts and rights breaking down the reef. While the right tends to close out fast, the lefts can roll beautifully if you catch them right. The spot handles swell sizes from about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and is best during low to mid tide. It’s important to note that this place is for experts only—make sure you have the skills to navigate the shallow and sometimes sketchy reef.

On any given day, you might see locals shredding the waves or bodyboarders riding the barrels. It's a good idea to keep an eye out for other less intense spots nearby, like La del Medio and La del Chalet, if you’re looking for something a bit more chill. The preferred wind direction is from the east, which can complement the conditions here. Just remember to be respectful and keep your wits about you in the water.
