Salt Creek - Gravels surf guide

Salt Creek - Gravels is located just north of Salt Creek Beach. This spot features a mix of sand and rock bottom, making it a unique place to surf. It can handle a variety of swell sizes and welcomes surfers of intermediate skill levels. The vibe here is pretty chill, and you can often spot photographers capturing the action with good lighting.

The waves at Gravels can be hit or miss. When the conditions line up, you'll find righthand and lefthand waves breaking over the sand, which can create some fun tube rides. The optimal swell direction comes from the Southwest, but it can also pick up swells from the South and Northwest. It's worth noting that this spot handles swell sizes as low as 2 feet (about 0.6 meters), but it can also work on bigger days. Low to mid tides are preferable here, and if the wind comes from the Northeast, that usually sets things up nicely for a good session.

Keep in mind that this spot often closes out, so it might not always deliver fantastic barrels. Still, when it's on, it offers decent waves and some fun rides for those looking to score. Just be prepared for a bit of variability in the conditions and rely on your surfing skills to make the most of it.
