Overview
San Blas is a secluded beachbreak set in beautiful surroundings, though the waves themselves are usually on the ugly side. It breaks over sand and offers both lefts and rights.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from northwest through northeast (NW-NE), with northeast (NE) the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft, so keep it in mind for the smaller, cleaner days rather than big surf.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south (S) offshore wind to clean things up. It can work through most of the tide, across low, mid and high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
With its easy-going setup, San Blas is a good spot for beginners to log some time in the water.
Access
Getting down to the sand means following a steep concrete road, part of what keeps this beach feeling tucked away.
