Shilla Point surf guide

Shilla Point is a surf spot located on the eastern headland, known for its reef break that offers some fast and hollow waves. This area is less crowded compared to nearby spots like Jungmun, largely due to the fewer experienced surfers around. It’s a place where surfers can enjoy the waves without feeling overwhelmed by the crowd.

The waves here tend to work best with a southeast swell, but they can also handle some southwest swells. You can expect the swell to range from around 2 feet (0.6 meters) and up. The lefts are generally smaller but peel nicely, while the right-hander can get tricky due to a big rock that sits in the middle and is only visible at low tide. Surfing at Shilla Point is best suited for expert surfers, as the conditions can be challenging. The optimal wind direction is from the north, and it works well during low, mid, and high tides.

When you’re out at Shilla Point, keep an eye on the uneven reef, as it can affect the way the waves break. If you’re looking for a spot that’s less packed and you’re up for a bit of a challenge, this might just be the place for you.
