Overview
Hyatt Regency is a right-hand reef that breaks over boulders and sand in front of the hotel. The boulder reef holds the sand in place and shapes the rights here, though it usually isn't as good as the nearby beachbreak.
When It Works
Any south swell variation turns on decent rights, and low tide is when they show their best form. The break draws swell from southwest through southeast, with southwest the standout direction. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it can be somewhat inconsistent, so it rewards catching it when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north offshore wind, with a bit of extra shelter when the wind swings out of the west. It breaks on low and mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is best left to expert surfers, especially since a rip can set up beside the rocks. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
