Overview
Shipwrecks is one of Nusa Lembongan's iconic breaks, a right-hander named for the rusting ship's bow that marks its long, exposed reef platform. Sets rear up out of nowhere and peel fast, holding a high, tight envelope with an open shoulder to run along.
When It Works
The reef is consistent and draws swell from south through west (S-W), with southwest (SW) the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. There's nothing to ride at low tide; the wave only starts breaking on the push to mid, then holds through mid and high, with a rising tide generally the better call. Getting the tide right is the real trick here, so aim for mid on springs and higher on neaps.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate wave that gets packed with surfers of all standards, so expect a busy lineup and be ready to pick your moments to snag one. Watch out for scrap metal on the reef.
