Overview
Sidi Mechrig is an exposed corner of the Tunisian coast where beach and reefbreaks share the same bay, with ancient ruins sitting just behind the sand. Waves break over a mix of boulders and sand and peel both ways, offering lefts and rights.
When It Works
The break draws swell from a broad window, running west through north to northeast (W-N-NE), and comes into its own on a northwest (NW) swell. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so there's plenty of room between a small day and a solid one.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean things up. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Access
Getting here means a 45-minute detour off the main road. Heading west toward Bizerte, a 4WD helps on the coastal tracks that lead to scenic bays like Cap Mérou, home to a long, hollow left-hand pointbreak that ranks among the best rides in Tunisia.
