Overview
Son Bou is a 2 km stretch of beach on Menorca and one of the island's most consistent breaks. It throws fast, hollow shorebreak with real power, peeling both left and right over sand. On a clear day you get squeaky-clean water and views across to Mallorca.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from east through south, with southwest swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and its consistency means there's usually something to ride here when nearby spots go quiet.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind to clean up the shorebreak. It can work through most of the tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
Son Bou suits intermediate surfers. When it's on, the easy-access peaks pull a crowd, and the lineup swings from tourist-packed in summer to empty in winter. Keep an eye out for rips.
Access
There's free parking to leave the car.
