St Charles surf guide

St Charles is located further east at Winneba and is known for its outside righthand reef that forms a point break. This spot is nicely sheltered on the inside, making it a decent option for those looking for a quieter surf experience. You’ll notice there are quite a few fishing boats around, but generally, it doesn’t attract many other surfers.

The best conditions here happen with a south swell, and it can also handle south-east and south-west swells. The waves typically break over a rock ledge and can get nice and fun at about 2 feet (around 0.6 meters) high. You can expect right-hand point waves, making it a good spot for right-handers. For ideal surfing, check it out with low to mid to high tide, and north-west winds work best. This spot is suited for intermediate surfers, so be prepared to have some skills under your belt to enjoy it fully.

If you're planning to surf St Charles, keep in mind it can get a bit lonely out there with not much surfer traffic. So, if you prefer a little space and don’t mind the fishing boats around, it could be a nice break for you.
