Overview
St Charles is an outside right-hand reef-point break, tucked further east at Winneba. The wave breaks over a rock ledge and stays nicely sheltered on the inside, so there's a protected section to work with once you're lined up.
When It Works
St Charles draws swell from the southwest through the southeast, and it comes into its own on a south swell. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, giving a solid working range when a decent pulse shows up. Consistency can be hit or miss, so it rewards patience and catching it when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind to clean up the face. The point can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers comfortable riding a right-hand point. The lineup stays quiet, with plenty of fishing boats around but rarely another surfer out.
