Overview
T.O. Strand is a fast, hollow right-hander just north of Port Edward, breaking over a rock ledge and sand. It's a proper reef wave that suits intermediate surfers comfortable taking off in punchy conditions.
When It Works
The spot needs a big southwest groundswell and a land breeze to fire, throwing heavy rights across the rock shelf. It draws swell from southwest through north to northeast, with southwest swell the best match. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency can be hit or miss, so it takes the right pulse to line up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind to groom it. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Expect a moderately busy lineup when it turns on. If T.O. Strand isn't cooperating, Port Edward has other options nearby, including a left at Silver Beach and a right off the point at Glenmore.
