Overview
Taíba is a beachbreak that breaks over sand, offering up both lefts and rights. The surrounding area gives you a few options: Taibinha is a genuine swell magnet that helps spread out the Paracuru crowd when it's firing, and more exposed rocky beachbreak sits around the windward side of the headland at Morro do Chapeu.
When It Works
Swell reaches Taíba from the northwest through north to east, and it's dialed in best on a northeast (NE) swell. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and being a consistent break there's usually something to ride. When bigger northeast-to-east swells team up with a pushing tide, the right off the rocks known as Pesqueira can turn on and deliver long walls.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind to clean things up. The break is best on mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves here suit beginners, making it an approachable place to log some time in the water. Expect a busy lineup when it's working.
Access
There's a surf school and a surf shop close by, along with free roadside parking.
