Overview
Tanjung Sari is a hotel-namesake reef break where a big bend in the reef and a shallow channel serve up waves on both sides. The rights can be picture-perfect, peeling for a few hundred meters, but they run fast and sectiony over live coral with little cover, so every wave is a bit of a lottery. The lefts are the more forgiving option, with a nice cover-up section before a short wall runs into the channel.
When It Works
The break draws swell from south through west, with south (S) the best match. The rights really come alive once a good-sized S-SW swell has already woken up Sanur. Conditions are moderately consistent, and the spot works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind. It can work through most of the tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call, and the rights in particular want the water on the lower side.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, with the lefts being the easier side to take on. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it works, though it tends to be quieter than Sanur, and the paddle out is easy.
