Overview
Tauro is a short, intense right-hander that breaks over a rock ledge on the southeast headland. The ride is essentially one big barrel before a careful kick-out as the reef goes dry, so it's strictly a bodyboarder's wave and a helmet is a sensible idea. This wave is currently threatened by large-scale urban development.
When It Works
Tauro draws swell from southeast through south to west (SE-S-W), with south the best match. It's usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is low, so it takes the right setup to line up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. It works best at high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-only wave. Expect a crowded lineup with some tension in the water when it's on.
