Overview
Vazon Bay - Reef is a left and right reef that breaks either side of Nipple Rock over a rock ledge. The left comes into its own once the tide gets too high for the beach, dropping in ledgey and fast before shouldering out. The right is the pickier of the two and needs spring highs, rewarding you with an equally interesting drop into a fast, hollow wall.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through north to northeast (SW-N-NE), and northwest swell is the best match. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so it wants a decent pulse of size to get going.
Wind and Tide
Look for south offshore wind to clean it up. This is a high-tide setup that comes in on high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Access
There's a car park at the spot.
