Overview
Vineta Point is an expert-level reef break that peels left, and sometimes right, in front of a rock groyne. The shallow, uneven reef sets up a bowly take-off with the chance of a barrel, so it rewards surfers who can commit to a critical drop.
When It Works
It draws swell from south to west (S-W), with southwest (SW) the best direction. The break is genuinely consistent and holds its shape even when the wind goes onshore, so it comes to life across a wide range of conditions. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. The reef comes into its own at high tide, though mid tide is also in play, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a wave for experts, thanks to the shallow reef and the bowly, sometimes barreling take-off. Expect a fairly quiet lineup when it is on.
