Willawahs surf guide

Willawahs is located on Guana Cay, which is part of the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas. It’s a pretty chill spot away from the more popular Elbow Cay, making it a good option for those looking to escape the busier scenes. The main beach here features a sandy bottom with a flat reef that sets the stage for some fun small swell peaks. It’s accessible for surfers of all abilities, and you can find the best breaks off the end of NW Guana Cay.

The surf at Willawahs is best when the swell is coming from the Northeast, though it also handles peaks from the North and East. It works well with swell sizes around 4 ft (1.2 meters), making it ideal for intermediate surfers. The waves tend to break in both left and right directions over the live coral. Ideally, you'll want to hit the water with a southwest wind and on low to mid tide for the best conditions.

Be mindful when surfing here as the reef can be flat but sharp, so it's good to be cautious. Being an intermediate spot, it’s perfect for working on your skills, so don’t be shy to give it a go if you’re feeling confident!
