Wujiao Bay sits 4 km south of Dongshan town, just south of the main harbour, where several good-quality peaks break either side of a short jetty. The waves form over sand and peel both left and right.
When It Works
It draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south, with northeast the best match. Big winter northeast swells wrap around the headland, while summer east to southeast swells and typhoon pulses keep it working too, so it stays moderately consistent. On northeast swells the bigger peaks stack up down the long beach toward the south end. The break works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind, since northeast winds blow cross-shore here. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
A friendly spot for beginners, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet. Kiteboarders are drawn in on the cross-shore days.
Access
Watch out on the inside for dangerous wood and iron poles sticking out of the water.
