Yerbabuena is a sectiony right-hand pointbreak that breaks over uneven reef. It needs a beefy swell to line up walled-up rights, with the odd tube on offer. Up the point, the most critical section can run fast over the boils.
When It Works
The point draws swell from southwest through northwest (SW-NW), with northwest (NW) the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so it takes some size to get going.
Wind and Tide
Look for north (N) offshore wind. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. Keep in mind that strong currents sweep down the point at high tide.
Local Tips
This is a right that suits intermediate surfers. The middle section pulls in the crowd and is dominated by locals, so expect company there when it's on.
Access
There's free roadside parking. Leaving a car in the forest beside the road invites a break-in, so choose where you park with care.
