Overview
Zahara de los Atunes is a long stretch of sandy beachbreak, reached at Playa de Zahara, with miles of empty peaks that break both left and right. It picks up far less swell than the Conil coast to the north, and military bases close off access further up the shore, so this beach tends to stay quiet.
When It Works
The banks draw swell from southwest to northwest (SW-NW), with a northwest (NW) swell the best match for clean, well-shaped peaks over the sand. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so there's a wide usable window from small days up to bigger surf.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind to hold the faces clean. It breaks on low and mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
The gentle, forgiving peaks make this a friendly place for beginners to find their feet.
Access
There's a car park with free parking, and camping close by if you want to stay a while.
