Overview
Broadhaven South is a punchy, hollow beachbreak that wedges left over sand. It only comes to life on large, wrapping swells, but when those arrive it can handle plenty of size.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from south through west, with southwest (SW) the best direction, and it breaks both left and right. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft, so it takes a real swell to get going and holds size well once it does.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind. The wave favors high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is for experts only. It turns very heavy, rippy, and tricky when it is big, so it rewards confident, experienced surfers rather than anyone still finding their feet.
Access
Park at the National Trust car park on the cliff, where you pay to park. In summer, an attendant keeps an eye on decency, so be discreet if you are getting changed at the car park.
