Gaibu is a beach break that peels over a mix of uneven reef and sand, throwing up both lefts and rights. The line of reef at Enseadas can shape thick-lipped, peeling pipes in among the close-outs and everyday onshore junk. It sits on the Gaibu Peninsula inside a prohibited zone, though the authorities have allowed locals in to surf and there have been no attacks so far.
When It Works
Gaibu draws swell from east through south (E-S), with southeast (SE) swell the best match. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is a decent working window when a swell fills in. Consistency is moderate, so it pays to time your sessions rather than count on it every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean it up. The break can work through most of the tide, from low through high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-level wave, best left to surfers who are comfortable in fast, close-out-prone conditions over reef and sand. Expect a busy lineup, and it gets ultra-jammed on weekends since it is the only show in town.
Access
There is plenty on hand at the beach, with restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, and a surf shop. For parking you have a car park with free spaces, paid options, and roadside parking.
