Glen Beach sits at the northern end of trendy Camps Bay, where the rocks hold some reliably good sandbars. It breaks both left and right over sand, and the banks come in consistently enough to be worth checking often. It stands out along this stretch of coast: Clifton to the north is rarely any good, and Camps Bay itself is usually a thumping shoredump once there's size.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from southeast through south to west (SE-S-W), with west the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there's a wide window to work with. In smaller swells the sandbars can throw up particularly hollow rights, especially on lower water.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind to clean it up. It works on low and mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is home turf for a lot of rippers and a favourite with bodyboarders, since it closes out plenty. It's an approachable spot for beginners, but expect a busy lineup when it's on.
