Jin Shan surf guide

Jin Shan, also known as Green Bay or Golden Mountain, is a popular surf spot, especially during the summer months. This beach attracts plenty of surfers, primarily beginners, who fill the lineup looking to catch some waves. The surf tends to be pretty average, but on the backside of a typhoon, it can offer better conditions. The spot features a variety of peaks between the left-side boulders and the central jetty, catering mostly to those just starting out.

The surf here works best with a northeast swell direction, but you can also catch waves from the north and southeast. It handles swell sizes as small as 1 ft (0.3 m) and breaks over sand, which is perfect for beginner surfers. Both left and right waves can be found, giving you options depending on your preference. For the best experience, aim for days when the wind comes from the southwest and the tide is at low, mid, or high levels.

If you’re looking to improve your skills, this spot is a good choice for practice. Despite the crowds during peak times, there’s enough space to ride some waves and work on your technique. Just keep in mind that conditions can vary, so always check the forecasts before heading out.
