Kattouristra is a right-hand wave that peels at a river mouth over a sand bottom.
When It Works
The rights pick up swell from the south through west (S-W), and they line up best on a southwest swell. The sandy river mouth is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so there is a decent working window between the smaller and bigger days.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind to clean up the face. The wave can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Kattouristra is a good fit for intermediate surfers. One important word of caution: the water here is heavily polluted, and locals have contracted skin diseases from surfing it, so weigh that before you paddle out.
