Overview
Lygia is a sandy beach break with two setups, the main beach and Little Bay, both peeling left and right. Expect small, mellow waves rather than anything punchy.
When It Works
The break draws swell from south to west, with southwest (SW) the best direction, and it's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft. Both the main beach and Little Bay will keep turning over small, mushy waves even in onshore windchop coming off the south or north.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean things up. The beach works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Lygia is a friendly spot for beginners, and its easygoing waves lend themselves well to longboarding.
