Overview
Library is one of the best beachbreaks around Alexandria, named for sitting close to the oldest library in the world. It breaks over a mix of boulders and sand and peels both left and right.
When It Works
Library pulls in swell from the west through to the north, with northwest swell the best match. It's a consistent break that can hold some of the largest surfable waves in Egypt, and it's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast offshore wind. The beach can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Library suits intermediate surfers, and it's one of the few beaches around Alexandria where you're likely to share the water with other surfers. Keep an eye on the current that runs east; the real risk is getting swept onto a rocky shoreline with no easy way out.
Access
Alexandria's coastal road gives good access to a number of waves, though finding the way down to the beach itself is harder, and some spots charge a small fee. For parking, expect a mix of metered, roadside, and restricted spaces.
