Overview
Willawahs sits on the main beach of Guana Cay, out in Abaco, the northernmost of the Bahamas' scattered out islands. It's a handy way to slip away from the busier scene over on Elbow Cay. A sandy, flat reef lying over live coral shapes small swell into peaks that break both left and right.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from north to east (N-E), and a northeast (NE) swell is the best match. It's usable from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and with moderately consistent conditions you'll find worthwhile windows when the swell lines up. For the cleanest peak, check off the end of NW Guana Cay.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind. The reef works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a fairly quiet lineup when it's on.
Access
Getting in is easy, with free roadside parking nearby. Keep an eye on the scattered reef, which is flat but sharp in places.
