The swell window faces predominantly north through northeast, with plenty of spots also picking up east and swinging as far as northwest. That orientation lines up with the classic Micronesian rhythm, when north and northeast groundswell through the northern-hemisphere winter feeds the reefs most reliably. Wind is generally best from the southwest, with southeast a common second option, so a dawn session before the trades fill in is often the smart call.
