Futuro is a surf spot located at Praia do Futuro, stretching over 5 kilometers with open beach breaks. Compared to the busier beaches in Fortaleza, this spot tends to have fewer crowds, although localism can still be an issue at times. It’s a pretty standard surf destination that attracts both locals and visitors looking for some wave action.

The best surfing happens when the swell is coming from the North-East, but it’s worth noting that you can also catch waves with swells from the North and South-East. You can ride waves at sizes starting from about 1 ft (0.3 m). The breaks here are primarily over sand, offering both left and right waves. If you’re planning your session, aim for low to mid to high tides for better conditions, and keep an eye on the wind; a South-West wind is preferable for the best experience.

Futuro can get decent waves, especially when the NE-E wind swells roll in, providing some good shoulder room for turns. It’s a spot that can be hit or miss and is usually best checked through the available webcams for real-time conditions. Just remember to be respectful of the locals while you’re out there!
