Futuro is a long run of exposed beachbreaks along Praia do Futuro, stretching for around 5 km of coast. The peaks are usually average in size but come with plenty of shoulder to work turns, and the sandy bottom throws up both lefts and rights. It really comes alive when northeast-to-east windswells push in.
When It Works
Futuro pulls in swell from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), and it favours a northeast (NE) swell above the rest. The break is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so there is a decent working window before it gets too small or too big. Consistency is moderate, and the standout sessions arrive when those northeast-to-east windswells are blowing in.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind to clean up the peaks. The beach works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Expect a busy lineup when it is on. There is still a bit of localism to be aware of, though the crowds here tend to be lighter than at Fortaleza.
Access
Facilities are solid, with restrooms, a lifeguard, a surf school, and a surf shop all on hand. For parking, there is a car park with free parking plus roadside options. Most of the main Ceará spots have webcams online, so it is easy to check Futuro before heading down.
